Drawing Activities

Please ask parents, guardians or teachers to email us your pictures

  • FAMILY

The Daring Droplets are very similar to us. Do you know how? Yes! Well done! They are made of water and so are we! Approximately 60% of our bodies are made of water. So, you see, we are one big family.

Can you send us a drawing of your family with Drizzle, Dribble and Dazzle in it too?

  • PIRATES

Dribble enjoys reading stories about pirates. His favourite book is called Treasure Island which was written by Scottish author, Robert Louis Stevenson, in 1881. One of the pirates in the story is called Long John Silver. He had a pet parrot who would sit on his shoulder.

If you were a pirate, what would your pirate name be?

Would you wear an eye patch and have a pet parrot too?

In The Daring Droplets; World Water Cycle Team, Dribble is holding

his copy of Treasure Island on two pages, can you find them?

Long John Silver was one of the first fictional pirates, but can you think of two other well known fictional pirates? Yes! Well done! Captain Hook from the book, Peter Pan, which was written by Scottish author, J.M. Barrie, and, Captain Jack Sparrow, from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean.

Could you send us a picture of your favourite pirates?

  • ICE SHEETS

Sometimes, Drizzle, Dribble and Dazzle get stuck in a mass of glacier ice which is also known as an ice sheet. Many, many years ago, Northern America, Northern Europe and the southern part of South America were covered in ice. Today, the only ice sheets left are in Antarctica and Greenland.

What animals live in Antarctica and Greenland? Can you send us pictures of those animals?

  • SUPERHEROES

Drizzle secretly wishes he was a superhero called 'Super Drizzle'.

If you were a superhero, what would your name be and what super powers would you have?

Please send us pictures of your favourite superheroes.

Or, a picture of yourself as a superhero with all your special powers.

Question. Was the legendary Robin Hood a type of superhero? Ask your teacher or your parents what they think?

  • AROUND THE WORLD

Drizzle, Dribble and Dazzle travel around the world to complete the water cycles and, sometimes, it can take them thousands of years! That is a very long time! Can you think of another fictional character who travelled around the world? Yes! Well done! Phileas Fogg! He was so sure that he could go around the world in only 80 days, that he bet all his money on it! French writer, Jules Verne, published his adventure novel, Around the World in 80 Days, in 1873.

How long do you think it would take you to travel around the world? Would you go by car, train, aeroplane, hot air balloon or a magic carpet?

Please draw us a picture of you travelling around the world.

Or, draw a picture of Phileas Fogg and his friends travelling around the world.

  • LOCH NESS MONSTER

Dribble loves reading stories about magical and mythical water creatures. One of his favourites is the Loch Ness Monster which supposedly lives in Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands! The Loch Ness Monster is also called 'Nessie'. Loch Ness is 750 feet deep and holds more water than in all of the lakes and rivers of England and Wales combined. That is a lot of water! There have been over 1,000 recorded sightings of Nessie.

Do you think Nessie really exists or do you think Nessie is just a mythical creature made up by the locals?

Send us your pictures of the Loch Ness Monster.

  • RAINBOWS

Dazzle loves creating rainbows when the sunlight beams through her. She loves bright colours.

What is your favourite colour?

Could you send me a picture of a rainbow?

Remember to include raindrops or water droplets and sunlight in your picture. Maybe, you could add Dazzle in your picture too?

  • DOLPHINS

Dazzle loves swimming with dolphins because they are usually friendly and playful. Also, because they live in oceans and rivers, she always finds a pod of dolphins to play with. When they come up to breathe air, she says hello. Then, she swims alongside them, jumping out of the water, travelling through the air and then back through the water.

Have you ever swum with a dolphin on holiday? Would you like to one day, perhaps when you are older?

Please send us a picture of a dolphin or a pod of dolphins in an ocean or a river.

  • TEAM WORK

The Daring Droplets are a team called the World Water Cycle Team. They work together to make sure they complete the water cycles so all the people, plants and animals in the world have water to drink and keep them alive. Although they have the same goal, they are all very different. Drizzle is sporty and adventurous. Dribble loves reading and exploring, and Dazzle loves to dance and create beautiful colours. They respect their differences because they know it makes them stronger as a team.

Have you ever worked in a team?

If Drizzle was at school, he would be in a sports team. Dribble would be in a study group team and Dazzle would be working in a team to help save animals and help the environment.

Can you send us a picture of the teams you are in at school or at home?

  • A LONG TIME TO WAIT

It can take Drizzle, Dribble and Dazzle thousands of years to complete a water cycle especially if they go deep underground. Or, it can take them only a few days if the water stays in the atmosphere.

If the Daring Droplets freeze in an ice sheet, it can take them hundreds of thousands of years before they melt enough to evaporate. That is a very long wait!!  I'm not sure how patient Drizzle would be to wait that long! Alternatively, if the Daring Droplets become part of rivers, lakes, oceans or snow it will take between months and hundreds of years to evaporate.

Send us your pictures of The Daring Droplets in a river, lake or ocean.
Or, as snow falling from the sky.
Or, deep underground.
