'Tis nearly the season of Christmas, which means that it is now the time for Christmas shopping. Our Survival Super Squad books are a fab present this year to give to any child who loves to read. Today, we want to share with you all of the ways Tina, our amazing author, was inspired to write these books and hopefully you'll know someone who shares the same hopes and ideas to gift them.

Book number 1, 'The Daring Droplets World Water Cycle Team', was inspired by science. For this book, Tina's main goal was to teach everyone about the water cycle and the reasons why it helps all living creatures on Earth. She wants people to know how water keeps us alive by hydrating us and keeping us clean. Sometimes we all forget that the water cycle does so much for us and Tina wants us to make sure we remember!

For book number 2, Tina wanted to incorporate her love of History, therefore came 'The Daring Droplets' Diary'. Starting from 350 million years ago, The Daring Droplets begin their new water cycle adventure in the tropical rainforest. We then see them travel to 100 million years ago where they meet the dinosaurs! Skip forward a few chapters to now and we get to see how times have changed and how our history on Earth has shaped us into who we all are now.

It's no secret that 'The Wilful Wildflowers And The Golden Petal' was inspired by the Greek myth 'The Apple of Discord', in which Eris, the goddess of discord throws a golden apple with the words 'To the fairest' written on it and the three goddesses, Hera, Athena and Aphrodite, all fight over who it should belong to. As the same happens with The Wildflowers, you can see how Tina uses her inspirations in the book.

The Arts

There are many different ways in which the arts have influenced Tina's writing, for example, poetry, as 'In Flanders Fields', a poem written by John McCrae is mentioned in the back of 'The Wilful Wildflowers And The Golden Petal'. Another use of the arts that inspired 'The Wilful Wildflowers' is 'Sunflowers' a series of paintings by Vincent van Gogh, as you can see in the book when Sunny brags about having the paintings named after him!

Lastly, the main reason why the Survival Super Squad books even exist is all because of nature. Tina believes that these books give nature a voice and she wants it to speak to whoever is listening. One of her favourite quotes ever is by Dr Seuss and it sums up her reason and inspirations for writing her books perfectly, 'I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues'.
