Survival Super Squad thinks that reading is one of the best things anyone can do and it is not only us that think this way! There are so many amazing benefits to reading, for children and adults. Once you find a genre of book that you love, get reading, as not only will it make you happier, but there are also so many beneficial and important reasons why it can improve your life.
Makes You Smarter
A lot of people say that only reading books about History or Science will make you smarter, this is not true. Yes, if you want to learn about these subjects then go ahead as this is a great way to improve your knowledge, however, you can also learn a great deal from other kinds of books as well. Want to learn more about myths and creatures? Check out a fiction book all about them. Or maybe you want to learn about TV shows and movies? Pick out a biography by one of your favourite celebs. You can learn from every book.
Probably the most obvious benefit of reading has to be entertainment! Books are created to be fun and interesting to read for children and adults alike. There have been plenty of times over the past year when we have felt bored and things like books have been what has kept us going. Being entertained has to be one of the best benefits books have to offer, as we all know how difficult it is to concentrate on something we are not interested in.
Stress can follow us wherever we go. However, nothing can get rid of that stress quite like a good book. Getting lost in a new dimension of reality is what reading is all about. Distracting yourself from anything on your mind and creating a world to go to when you need it. Calming down with a good book is always a great way to unwind.
We all know that reading before bed can help us get to sleep, but did you know that reading can actually help improve your quality of sleep? No matter what books you read, reading helps get you into a deep sleep as you are not so stressed from your day-to-day life. So, not only does reading help you at night, but it allows you to get enough rest that you are able to function well during the day.
Whenever you read a book, you should find that what has been written down, is written using great vocabulary and grammar (it would be difficult to read a book written using words we don't understand and commas flung about everywhere)! So subconsciously, we are absorbing these wonderful language skills that we will use in our everyday lives, as well as in work and school.
